Loved this review – we think the same on a lot of these points : Bernie Su did explain the name switch from George to Alex, and though still not a decision I would make, I understand why they made it. Precisely because they have placed the PD world within the same universe, they didn’t want two Georges with Wickham and Knightley. They felt they had used Wickham’s first name so much that it might weigh on the name’s connotation. Everyone should see it : ” YES!
And Tilney!! Always Tilney! Why is there even any discussion on the matter? Thank you! It’s like they think that we’re petty or something. It did make me laugh though when Emma had her rant about Caroline calling Knightley “Al” rather than “Alex”.
We also had tea and Jane Austen silhouette shortbread cookies. The first creative writing project presented came from Josh Medrano and Zak Amin. Are these people so gullible that they believed he had it seen it in a dream? Perhaps the intellect of this group does not match their sophistication. But then again maybe they did not believe him? I seriously do not know what to say.
In the other version, we mostly had Lizzie telling the viewers second-hand stories or trying to re-enact them. Here, the casting is not only perfect and this Emma, I believe, is a strong actor, but many of the scenes and conversations from the book are included on screen. Having a larger and more varied cast really helps this version. Due to his being around for so much more of the story, and for the audience to have plenty of opportunities to see him and Emma together, their ultimate romantic conclusion is much less awkward and weird to watch from a viewer perspective.
As a comparison to the book, I think it does really well. I loved the clever interpretation it brought to many of the characters and important scenes. Overall, I definitely enjoyed this version more than the other. So, I think this one is just better overall. I think the story is probably better suited for this type of thing. The acting was better. And overall, it just came together in a much more seamless, natural way.

It’s never explained in the series how Emma has two cameras established in her office at once, and so close together. This gave it a more personal, organic touch. It feels just a bit too clean.
